Nutrition Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to make you more aware of your body and health.
Follow ALL instructions, and use this as a checklist before turning in your final copy!
- Calculate your daily calorie intake to maintain your current weight
- Keep a log of your food and beverage consumption for each day for a total of 7 days. The minimum that should be included in your document include the following for each day:
- Each food/beverage
- Calories for each food/beverage
- Grams of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats for each food/beverage (Most websites will give you much more information.)
- Daily Total Input (total calories), total grams of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats
- Keep a log of your water intake for each day.
- Keep a log of your exercise for each day. Describe each exercise and the time involved.
- Use one of the following websites to find input (calories, carbohydrates, proteins, & fats) and output (calories burned for each exercise):
All information needs to be logged within one of the nutrition journals on a website listed above (you may choose the one easiest to navigate). (Turn in the actual food log. Copy the food log from the website, and paste it into Microsoft Word.)
- Calculate percentages of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats for each day using the following formulas:
- Convert grams of carbs, proteins, and fats to calories:
- 4 x Grams of Carbs = Calories of Carbs
- 4 x Grams of Proteins = Calories of Proteins
- 9 x Grams of Fats = Calories of Fats
- Calculate percentages:
- (Calories of Carbs / Total Calories for the day) x 100 = ___% Carbs
- (Calories of Proteins / Total Calories for the day) x 100 = ___% Proteins
- (Calories of Fats / Total Calories for the day) x 100 = ___% Fats
- Convert grams of carbs, proteins, and fats to calories:
(Check yourself: These percentages should = about 100 % unless you consumed alcohol.)
- Type a paragraph describing (in detail) what you learned from this assignment.
