Public health emergency response is not all lights and sirens which is why it is foreign to most emergency responders and to those without a healthcare background. Emergency may mean that we attack a situation or problem over days to weeks rather than minutes to hours. Resources are typically found at the state and federal level, not so much at the local level, especially in less densely populated areas. I have placed this module towards the end of the course so that you may accumulate knowledge about public health operations which may make understanding what is contained in this booklet (focus of the week’s assignment) easier to comprehend.
