Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
you will write a 500-750 word paper in response to the following prompt using the film.
Prompt: Dr. Strangelove is a fantastic satire about the Cold War, nuclear warfare, and how it affected the United States and the USSR. The general description is as follows:
An insane general triggers a path to nuclear holocaust that a War Room full of politicians and generals frantically tries to stop.
As such, I want you to write a short paper analyzing the ways in which the Cold War and nuclear warfare are satirized in the movie. How can we apply this movie to the lectures we are having about those same subjects? What were your favorite parts? What about this movie makes it a good fit for understanding the Cold War era? If you want to think about it this way: Why would I have you watch this particular film about the Cold War when there are plenty of others?
Essays must conform to ALL conventions of formal writing. This means that your essays are expected to be doubled-spaced, 12-point font, and grammatically correct. Papers that are either too long or too short will be penalized.
Please submit your document as a Microsoft Word file. DO NOT convert the file to a PDF.
Please watch the film then write. This is the link you can watch the movie through or you can use your own sources to watch it if you prefer that.
