The purpose of this project is to conduct a preliminary communication audit of an organization that will result in a 5 pages final report. The main goal is to investigate the internal/external communication of and organization of your choice by using concepts from Miller’s text that we have read throughout the semester. Consider this an in-depth case study of organizational communication. The communication audit was developed in the 1970s as a research tool to assess organizational communication. Through field observation, interviews, network analyses, and descriptions of communication channels and experiences, auditors are able to determine the quality and information flow of an organization’s communication. The organizational audit for CMM 470 will allow students to generate a comprehensive account of communication flows, employees’ communication needs, sources of information, and communication satisfaction within the organization.
