Comparison of directors articulation of love/ marriage to philosophical understandings of concepts in historical views

Write a 1,200-word critical paper in response to the film Boy Erased (2018), Directed by Joel Edgerton. This paper should be typed, double spaced, with pages numbered using Times New
Roman font size 12. This analysis paper is a response to the writer/director’s articulation of love
and marriage as compared to some of the philosophical understandings of these concepts in
historical perspective (including some discussion of plot, characters, dialogue, symbolism,

Format for Critical Film Paper

Introduction:

including the title, basic plot, year released, director, writer, major character (stars) of the film, box
office, production costs, and some minor details about the films reception among audiences by
professional reviewers. Discuss briefly in the second paragraph the historical context (background)
of the film as derived from course readings, class discussion, and assigned readings associated with
the film in the second paragraph including how you intend to address the topic in your essay ending
this paragraph with a thesis statement illustrating your argument concerning the film in relation to
the topic gender/responsibility in historical perspective (What message is the director trying to
convey about gender and responsibility? Do you agree or disagree with this interpretation? How
does the film reinforce or contradict western concepts of love? Your response to these questions is
the basis of your thesis statement).
