2.) Writing Task

In Your First Post, Respond to Three Questions:

• A) Act I, all scenes: How is Mama and Walter’s conflict generational, as well as a clash of ideals? Explain, referencing specific support from the play.

• B) Act II, Scene 1: Why does George react so negatively to Beneatha’s dress and hair? What do you think George represents? Discuss. How does his outlook and atittude contrast with Beneatha’s?

• C) Acts I-II, all scenes: The play is set on Chicago’s South Side in the early 1950s. Consider the living conditions of the Younger family. Are there specific ways that their poverty fuels, or shapes some of their conflicts? Discuss. In the course of your response, also consider: does the Race & Redlining video illuminate any aspects of the family’s situation? Be specific.
