Learning Goal: I’m working on a education & teaching discussion question and need a sample draft to help me learn.
As
background for this week, please read the two cases “Plessy v.

History of Segregation and “Separate But Equal”:
Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board of Education
In
1896 the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in Plessy v. Ferguson
that “separate but equal” public facilities were constitutional. This
included schools and school systems. Despite the decision being relevant
to African American students, similar segregation took place regarding
Hispanic, Asian, and Native American students across the country. In
1954 the Supreme Court reversed Plessy v. Ferguson in the decision
stated in Brown v. Board of Education. The decision was unanimous.
In preparation for this discussion, read the following case:
T.K. And S.K. v. New York City Department of Education (2011) (Special Education and Bullying)

From
the point of view of schools how did the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
extend the rights granted to individuals with disabilities?
