Democracy is defined as universal suffrage, and over time the U.S. has expanded the vote to African Americans, women, lowered the age to 18, but clearly we continue to have some restrictions – age and citizenship. Also most states limit or deny voting to those convicted of felonies. Posted under “Required Resources” are three articles suggesting we change these restrictions. Consider these arguments. Do you agree? Why or why not? Consider broadly how a democracy should implement restrictions on voting, if any.
Please respond to the above question in 2-3 well-developed paragraphs. Make sure you reference ALL THREE articles within both your responses. The text can provide additional background. If you do additional research, please include the source.
Please post an initial response and a thoughtful response with a clear fact/reference to one of your classmates.
